About SC Delta Plus SRL
Delta Plus is a private Company founded in 1998 and managed by Mr. Gheorghe Bedreaga, a dedicated aquaculture engineer.
It is situated in the center of Transylvania, 105 km south from Cluj Napoca, 5km distance from the town of Sebes, nearby the European road E 81.
The Company owns a fish farm and a processing unit.
The fish farm owned by the Company was raised in 1980-1983 on a surface of 110 ha. It consists in 20 earthen stillwater ponds with various surfaces and destinations. Mr. Bedreaga was the manager of the farm since 1982, the year of its inauguration.
The main activity is breeding, rearing and delivering carp (mirror carp, silver carp and grass carp) as fish for consumption, angling fish and juveniles for restocking purposes. The growing system used is the extensive one, based on lower density and the stimulation of natural food production combined with pelleted and extruded feeding.
The yearly farm production consists of 180-200to fish: mostly carp, but also pike–perch, crucian carp, catfish, pike and perch in a smaller amount.
Since 2000 we introduced together with the Nucet Aquaculture Research Institute the breeding of Koi carp and especially of paddle fish (Polyodon spatula) with excellent results. We also participated to research programs regarding the breeding of sevruga using water recirculation system, together with Aquaculture Research Institute from Galati.
As a base of our production, we produce our own carp fingerlings and we also acquire silver carp and grass carp as fingerlings from research institutes. We deliver a part of our fingerling production to other fish farms, pond owners and for the repopulation of the rivers.
We deliver fish to wholesalers’ allover Romania and small private companies in the surrounding districts of Transylvania.
We offer two ponds for recreational fishing, populated with different species.
The processing unit was raised according to European standards in 2004 as a project partly financed by the European Union PHARE funding.
We also attend national and international conferences, expositions and workshops regarding modern and sustainable aquaculture, new technologies, new species, traceability, modern fish feeding, a. o.
For the moment, according to Romanian market demands, we deliver mostly live fish in fish tanks and fresh fish (on ice scales).
All these intensive activities are meant to insure us a successful transition to the new demands of modern aquaculture and market conditions.
